Lahore: The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab on Monday secured the release of pending educational scholarships amounting to Rs.6million for 78 students across the province,following its effective intervention against prolonged administrative delays.
According to official details,the affected students had approached the Ombudsman’s Office,complaining that their scholarship payments had been withheld for several months due to bureaucratic hurdles and procedural lapses in various government departments and educational institutions.
The delays were causing serious difficulties for students and adversely affecting their academic pursuits.
Taking notice of the complaints,the Ombudsman Punjab directed the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough review of each case, fix responsibility for unjustified delays and ensure the disbursement of scholarships strictly on merit.
The Ombudsman also stressed the need for transparency,accountability and timely processing of scholarship cases to prevent such issues in the future.
In compliance with these directions,the relevant departments re-examined all pending cases, resolved procedural and documentary shortcomings and subsequently disbursed a total amount of Rs.6 million among the deserving students.
The beneficiary students expressed gratitude to the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab for providing timely relief and safeguarding their right to fair,efficient and prompt administrative justice.
