FESCO approves Rs8m marriage grants


Faisalabad: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has approved Rs8 million in marriage-related grants for 32 former employees and their families under a series of measures initiated on the special directions of Chief Executive FESCO Engineer Muhammad Amir.



FESCO spokesman Muhammad Saeed Raza said here on Tuesday that the company has approved Rs6. 4 million in grants to meet marriage expenses of children of retired and deceased employees while an additional Rs1. 6 million has been sanctioned as self-marriage grants for eligible employees.



Under the approved welfare package, Rs200, 000 would be provided for the marriage of each eligible child of a retired or deceased employee whereas Rs100, 000 would be granted for self-marriage expenses, he added.



He said that formal orders have been issued for release of the approved amounts to the beneficiaries after completion of the required formalities.



He described the initiative as part of FESCO’s continuing employee welfare policy rather than a one-time measure. The company would continue introducing and implementing welfare-oriented measures for improving quality of life of its employees and their families, he added.



He said that FESCO considers the welfare and financial security of employees and their dependents an important institutional responsibility, adding that further measures would be taken in the future to provide support to employees and their families whenever required.



The beneficiaries receiving the Rs200, 000 marriage grant include Muniran Akhtar, widow of Bashir Ahmad, ALM; Abida Parveen, widow of Muhammad Ibrahim, meter reader; Naila Rasheed, daughter of Abdul Rasheed, Line Man-II; Bashiran Bibi, widow of Karam Elahi, security guard; Ghulam Kulsoom, widow of Muhammad Yousaf, naib qasid; Ahmed Yar and Muhammad Hussain, retired security guards; Mazhar Khan, retired mali; Muhammad Bilal, Tariq Mahmood, Ishrat Hussain and Nawaz, retired Line Man-I; Abdul Sattar and Tajammal Hussain, retired Line Man-II; Ghulam Shabbir, retired meter reader; Muhammad Razaq and Khizar Hayat, retired commercial assistants; Nazir Ahmad, retired commercial superintendent; Zulfiqar Ali, line staff; Ikramullah Khan and Ehsan-ul-Haq, retired Line Foreman-I; Muhammad Riaz Khan, retired security sergeant; Iqbal Hussain, retired Line Foreman-II; Abdul Razzaq and Talib Hussain Javed, retired Line Superintendent-II; Ehsanullah Khan and Niaz-ul-Haq, retired Line Man-I; and Muhammad Ajmal, Muhammad Hanif
and Muhammad Nawaz, retired ALMs.



FESCO employees appreciated the initiative taken by Chief Executive Engineer Muhammad Amir and expressed hope that the employee welfare program would be expanded and continued in the future.



They said that such measures not only provided much-needed financial assistance to employees and their families but also strengthened the sense of institutional support and recognition for those who had spent their working lives serving the power utility.
