ADC General chairs District Price Control Committee meeting


Sialkot: A meeting of the District Price Control Committee Sialkot was held at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) General Ayub Bukhari.



Vice Chairman Khalid Butt, President Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran Mehr Ghulam Mujtaba, General Secretary Sheikh Javed Haider, District Officer (DO) Industries/Secretary Price Committee Abdul Quddoos, AD Zeeshan Ahmed, Aqeel Kapoor, Malik Taj, Ashfaq Nazar, Chaudhry Khurram, Hafiz Naseer, Hina Noreen, Secretary Market Committee Malik Abdullah were also present on this occasion.



During the meeting, the prices of food items were reviewed in the meeting and recommendations for their new prices were compiled and sent to the District Controller of Prices.

PSX stays bullish, gains 111 more points


Islamabad:: The 100-Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued with bullish trend on Thursday, gaining 111.57 points, a positive change of 0.10 percent, closing at 117,119.66 points as compared to 117,008.08 points on the last trading day.



A total of 1,037,862,969 shares were traded during the day as compared to 956,274,456 shares the previous trading day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs 46.570 billion against Rs.46.440 billion on the last trading day.



As many as 464 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 193 of them recorded gains and 225 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 46 companies remained unchanged.



The three top trading companies were Fauji Foods Limited with 89,478,727 shares at Rs 19.24 per share, WorldCall Telecom with 72,001,410 shares at Rs.1.79 per share and Telecard Limited with 61,073,411 shares at Rs.10.52 per share.



Hallmark Company Limited witnessed a maximum increase of Rs.85.23 per share price, closing at Rs 1,091.40, whereas the runner-up was Excide Pakistan Limited with Rs 80.86 rise in its per share price to Rs.889.49.



Indus Motor Company Limited witnessed a maximum decrease of Rs 96.96 per share closing at Rs 2,036.49 followed by Sazgar Engineering Works Limited with Rs 29.34 decline to close at Rs.1,102.33.

14 dead, 1,103 injured in Punjab road accidents

Lahore: At least 14 people were killed and 1,103 injured in 1,069 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

As many as 475 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 614 with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by the rscue medical teams.

The data analysis showed that 593 drivers, 41 underage drivers, 129 pedestrians, and 353 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes. The statistics showed that 228 accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 235 people, placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by Faisalabad with 87 accidents and 93 victims, and at third Gujranwala with 63 accidents and 61 victims.

According to the data, 878 motorbikes, 62 auto-rickshaws, 114 motorcars, 26 vans, 06 pas6senger buses, 44 truck and 80 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in these road traffic accidents.

CM Bugti chairs cabinet meeting, makes vital decision for interest of public, province

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Thursday chaired provincial cabinet meeting and made important decisions for wider interest of public and the province.

These views were expressed by Balochistan Government's spokesman Shahid Rind in press conference here. He said that the release of funds for the Balochistan Water Resources Development Sector Program was approved saying that the program would be implemented under the World Bank's soft loan, Mr. Shahid Rind said that the project would ensure proper use of agricultural water and water management, despite the Balochistan cabinet also approved the Policy Guideline for Trading in Carbon Markets.

'A carbon market working group will be formed at the federal level under the guideline', he said added that the working group would have representation from all four provinces. He said that a policy related to the carbon market to be made in mutual consultation with all four provinces including Balochistan.

The spokesman said that the Balochistan government has informed Radio Pakistan Sariab Road Quetta about planned to build a cricket academy on the land of it, He said that despite repeated efforts, Radio Pakistan did not agree to give this land for building of cricket academy adding that Radio Pakistan is also an institution of the state, the provincial government would not want to get into any conflict, The cricket academy has been decided to be built at a suitable alternative location, he said.

Shahid Rind maintained that the Balochistan cabinet has approved a plan to provide basic facilities in schools in remote areas of the province saying that a project would be launched with the support of the World Bank to improve basic facilities and quality of education in schools in respective areas of the province. The cabinet has approved a five-year plan worth one hundred million dollars, under the plan, steps will be taken to improve the quality of education, enroll out-of-school children in schools and solve distance problems, he noted.

He said that the provincial cabinet also approved the Balochistan Foundational Learning Policy, this policy is also part of the continuation of educational reforms in the province saying that it would be helped in promoting quality education and increasing literacy rate.

The Balochistan cabinet also approved the Regularity Act 2024 regarding the appointment, posting and transfer of teachers, he mentioned. He said that this act is being brought to give legal status to the temporary recruitment policy of teachers, after the approval of the cabinet, this act would be presented in the Balochistan Assembly for further processing. The Spokesman said that teachers recruited at the union council and local level would not be able to be transferred anywhere else. He said that Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has reiterated his commitment to bring transparency in the recruitment process under merit at the local level. The entire cabinet has agreed in principle with the Chief Minister's commitment to implement merit, he said adding that the Balochistan cabinet has formed a committee to revive the Ladies Parda Club.

He said that the committee is the Girls Guide Association would also review the extension of the lease agreement of the premises saying that both the facilities have been working for women for a long time. The provincial cabinet was briefed on the reforms in the health sector and the Grand Health Alliance in Balochistan by Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, he said.

The Balochistan cabinet has also given conditional approval to extend the lease agreement with PPL, the lease extension agreement will take into account the case pending in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, he said. He said that the cabinet members were informed by the Chief Minister of Balochistan about the demands accepted by PPL for public welfare.

The cabinet expressed concern over the delay in the implementation of the approved bypass project in Dera Murad Jamali, he said. The spokesman said that the cabinet directed that the NHA regarding the pending Dera Murad Jamali bypass project, a letter would be written in this context to NHA.

Shower spell likely till January 6

Lahore: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain-wind/thunderstorm in most parts of the province including the provincial metropolis till January 6.

According to a spokesman for the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a frontal weather system is present over upper parts of the country and likely to persist in upper parts till 06th January and under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorm with heavy snowfall in Murree and Galliyat till January 6 with occasional gaps.

Rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Pothohar region, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jahng and Toba Tek Singh during the same period while light rain-wind/thunderstorm is also expected in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Taunsa Sharif, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara and Bahawalnagar till 05th January, 2025 with occasional gaps.

Heavy snowfall may cause road closure/ slippery conditions in Murree, Galliyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli, Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah and Qilla Saifullah till 06th January, 2025.

Tourists are advised to remain extra cautious and may avoid unnecessary travelling during the period while rain may be beneficial for the standing crops in Barani areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Cold wave conditions likely to grip most parts of the country followed by the wet spell and dense foggy conditions may develop in plains of the country after the forecast period.
