Lahore: Installation of cat eyes has been banned during the construction of new roads in Lahore, while LDA has implemented a new policy under the Sustainable Development Model.
Cat eyes will not be installed between the roads in the future roads and development projects worth Rs 15 billion.
DG LDA has directed the Engineering Wing to ensure implementation of the decision, however, protective cat eyes will be installed on specific edges of the road. Installation of cat eyes will be allowed.
According to the details, in the past, installation of cat eyes between roads was a routine part, however, their installation has increased construction costs and there have been complaints of damage to vehicle tires.
There have been concerns that cat eyes installed on the road surface will affect traffic flow and in some cases, causing accidents.
Keeping these issues in mind, the LDA has decided to change the design of new roads. According to the new guidelines, installation of cat eyes in the middle of the road, i.e. in the central part, will not be allowed.
However, for traffic safety, yellow safety cat eyes can be installed on specific edges of the road. There is also scope for installing safety cat eyes on the ends of fast and slow lanes as needed.
