Lahore: Provincial Minister and Vice Chairperson of the Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab Barrister Amjad Malik on Thursday directed the officers concerned to ensure speedy resolution of complaints lodged by Overseas Pakistanis and strengthen the digital mechanism for monitoring their cases.
He was chairing a meeting held to review the status of complaints submitted by Overseas Pakistanis and progress made towards their resolution. Commissioner OPC Humaira Ikram, DG OPC Ahmer Nike, Director Administration Aamir Ahmed Khan, Director Revenue Shoaib Niswana and other relevant officers attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Barrister Amjad Malik reviewed the complaints referred to various government departments and received a detailed briefing on their current status and progress towards resolution.
The Provincial Minister directed officers to avoid unnecessary delays and ensure meaningful progress on every complaint within the prescribed timeframe. He said Overseas Pakistanis were a valuable national asset and timely resolution of their issues was among the priorities of the Punjab government.
He directed further digitalization of the OPC Punjab complaint management system to make it more efficient, transparent and responsive. He called for strengthening mechanisms for complaint monitoring, status updates and follow-up with relevant departments so that complainants could receive timely information about the progress of their cases.
Barrister Amjad Malik also directed the development of a comprehensive digital record of court cases involving Overseas Pakistanis. He said the system should contain essential information regarding the status of cases, relevant forums, proceedings and other necessary details to facilitate effective monitoring and follow-up.
He said the digital record would improve institutional coordination and enable Overseas Pakistanis to obtain timely updates about their legal matters.
The Provincial Minister directed officers to ensure effective coordination with other government departments on matters requiring their assistance and pursue such cases regularly until their resolution.
He said the core objective of the Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab was to facilitate Overseas Pakistanis in resolving their issues and assist them in matters involving government institutions. He stressed that modernization of the complaint resolution mechanism in line with contemporary digital requirements was essential to achieving this objective.
During the meeting, Commissioner OPC Humaira Ikram, DG OPC Ahmer Nike, Director Administration Aamir Ahmed Khan and Director Revenue Shoaib Niswana briefed the Provincial Minister about progress on complaints and other matters on the agenda.
Barrister Amjad Malik directed the concerned officers to take effective measures for resolving pending complaints and present a detailed progress report at the next meeting.
