Islamabad: The Cabinet Committee on Disposal of Legislative Cases met under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar to review proposed legislative amendments and legal and administrative matters.
Senior officials from the concerned ministries, departments and divisions attended the meeting.
The committee approved the proposed amendments to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Act, 1974, subject to the incorporation of its recommendations and necessary amendments.
It also approved the proposed amendments to the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 and the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, subject to incorporation of the necessary amendments and recommendations.
The committee further approved proposed amendments to the Civil Servants Act, 1973, subject to the incorporation of necessary amendments.
Consideration of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (Amendment) Bill, 2026 was deferred.
The committee also approved proposed amendments to the Immigration Rules, 1979.
Meanwhile, the proposal to increase penalties for overloading under the National Highways Safety Ordinance, 2000 was withdrawn.
