Sargodha: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) on Tuesday apprehended 10 people accused of power theft here.

According to a spokesperson,the fesco task teams under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) conducted raids in Tariqabad, Noori gate area,Lahore road, Queen chowk and Muhammadi colony and arrested 10 power thieves including Ghulam Rasool,Shah Saleem,Mujtaba Shah,Ahmed Shair,Noor Ullah,Amir Khan, Asmatullah,Ghulam Baqir,Shafique and Rehman.

Further investigation was underway.

Multan: Rescue 1122 Multan responded to 9965 emergency calls for assistance and rescued over 9700 people during the last month.

According to a monthly performance issued here on Tuesday,District Emergency Officer(DEO),Dr.Hussain Mian said that a total of 9708 people were rescued after Rescue1122 responded to 2338 road accident calls,96 fire incidents,218 brawl/crime emergencies,three building collapse incidents and 6417 medical emergencies in last month

A total 4114 patients were shifted to hospitals for treatment and 5126 were provided first aid whereas,524 people were found dead,Dr.Hussain Mian said.

He said that the response time of the emergency service remained below less than seven minutes.

Sukkur: After the overwhelming success of PLF 2023 - Sukkur Chapter at Sukkur IBA University, Pakistan Literature Festival (PLF) is set to make a grand return on February 25-26, 2025.

Nawabshah: The National Disability and Development Forum (NDF) Pakistan has urged all stakeholders to resolve polio vaccination refusal cases in Sindh.

Abid Lashari, President of NDF Pakistan, emphasized the urgent need for coordinated efforts to ensure 100% vaccination coverage.

He said that Polio remains a threat to our children's future as well could trigger life time morbidity to our innocent children as every missed child is a risk not only to themselves but to the entire community.

Abid said that denials must be addressed with serious intervention, including awareness campaigns, engagement with community leaders, and strict monitoring,

He further highlighted the tireless efforts of frontline health workers who risk their lives to eradicate polio.

He urged government and civil society to support them in ensuring that no child is left without vaccination.

Peshawar: The Chief Executive Officer of Paraplegic Center Peshawar (PPC), Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas on Monday welcomed educational visits by school and college students to the center.

He emphasized that his institution fully supports such initiatives to instill a sense of empathy and service for humanity among children from an early age. He also highlighted the importance of raising awareness among students about the significant role of persons with disabilities in society.

Meanwhile, young students from The City School Warsak Campus, accompanied by their teachers Ms. Ayesha and Ms. Samia Jamal, visited the Paraplegic Center for an educational tour.

During their visit, they interacted with children undergoing treatment at the Clubfoot Home, Patriotic Rehab Autism Department, and General Wards.

The students engaged in various activities with the children, such as playing games on the center's lawn, creating and decorating drawings at Clubfoot Home, and exchanging chocolates and candies as gifts.

Additionally, the children shared stories and dreams with one another, which particularly captivated the children at Clubfoot Home, bringing smiles to their faces. Later, all the students enjoyed lunch together at the center's cafeteria.

On this occasion, Fajr, the young daughter of Muhammad Rafiq, Chief of Umar Pharmacy, and a student at the school, donated essential vitamins and medicines to the center's pharmacist, Dr. Iftikhar.

Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas reiterated that such visits help foster a culture of care and inclusivity while spreading awareness about the needs and contributions of individuals with disabilities.

Hyderabad: In compliance with directives from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Energy, the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) continues its crackdown against electricity thieves and defaulters with the support of law enforcement agencies.

According to the HESCO spokesperson Saadiq Kubbar, the operation was being carried out under the instructions of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Faizullah Dahiri, in coordination with the DISCO Supporting Unit (DSU).

During an ongoing operation, the power supply to the Customs Office, Hyderabad was disconnected due to outstanding dues amounting to 50 million rupees.

On this occasion, the SDO operation sub-division M.M. Shah emphasized that defaulters must clear their electricity dues immediately; otherwise, their connections will be severed, and legal action will also be taken. He further stated that strict measures would continue against power theft without any discrimination.

The HESCO authorities had urged consumers to pay their electricity bills on time to avoid disconnection. The administration warned that further action would be taken with the assistance of Rangers, police and other law enforcement agencies to recover outstanding dues.
