Dera ismail khan: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Syed Ashfaq Anwar paid a surprise visit to Shorkot Police Station to review the security arrangements at the station.

During the visit, he inspected the police station's records, lockup, and the barracks for the police personnel to ensure that all arrangements were in place.

According to police spokesman, the RPO met with the police officers and personnel present at the station and instructed them to remain fully alert during their duties, given the current circumstances.

He emphasized that officers should treat the complainants with courtesy, offer them respect, and provide immediate relief.

He further directed that police officers must remain actively engaged in combating crime, particularly focusing on cases involving murder, attempted murder, drug dealers, land grabbers, car thieves, and street crimes.

The RPO also lauded the performance of the policemen. He also instructed them to ensure that everyone visiting the station is treated with respect, to further strengthen public trust in the police force.

Faisalabad: The Kurr police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) involved in a double murder case after two months of the incident.

A police spokesman said here on Thursday that accused Ali Husnain had shot dead his rivals Khadim Hussain and Ashiq Hussain over a property dispute and escaped from the scene. He was declared as proclaimed offender.

The police succeeded in arresting the accused from Tehsil Tandlianwala. Further investigation was under progress, he added.

Sargodha: Sargodha police during ongoing crackdown against rule breakers netted 24 criminals across the District.

The teams of different police station conducted raids at various localities and nabbed –Ali, Umair, Hamza, Bashir, Tahir, Tariq, Wasif, Majeed, Anjum, Shakeel, Khurram, Kamran, Umar, Aslam, Adnan, Syed Touqeer, Shafqat Chohan, Naveed Sultan, Kaleem, Saleem, Shafique,Niazi Shah, Ghulam Rasool, Taimoor and Rafaqat.

The teams also recovered 8-kg Hashish,3-kg heroin,huge quantity of ice,386 liters liquor,234 empty bottle,8 working distilleries,04 kalashanikovs,03 pistols,6 guns,200 bullets and valuables worth in millions of rupees from their possessions.

Hyderabad: The Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Yousif Shaikh on Thursday chaired an important meeting at the DC Office to review arrangements for the upcoming Agro-Livestock and Handicrafts Expo 2025. The event was scheduled to take place on February 8 and 9, 2025.

The meeting was attended by officials of various departments, engineers and representatives of civil defense, NGOs and other organizations.

During the meeting, the deputy commissioner directed all stakeholders to fulfill their responsibilities diligently to ensure the successful organization of the expo.

Rawalpindi: The mercy petitions of 19 convicted persons involved in May 9, 2023 riots have been accepted on humanitarian grounds.

'Sequel to the promulgation of punishments to 9th May Tragedy convicts, they have exercised their right to appeal and have asked for mercy/ remission in their punishments,' a news release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.

'A total of 67 convicts have given their mercy petitions. 48 petitions have been processed to Courts of Appeal while, petitions of 19 convicts have been accepted purely on humanitarian grounds, in accordance with law. Mercy petitions of remaining will be decided in due course of time, following the legal process,' it further said.

They all shall be released after completion of procedural formalities.

All those convicted retain the right of appeal and other legal remedies as per the law and the constitution, it further said.

'The remission of punishments is a testament to the strength of the due process and fairness, which ensures that justice is served while also taking into account the principles of compassion and mercy,' the statement added.

Earlier in April 2024, release of 20 convicts was also carried out on humanitarian grounds in accordance with the law.
