Dr. Abdul Hameed Khooharo appointed as DHO Jamshoro


Hyderabad: The Sindh government has appointed Dr. Abdul Hameed Khooharo, Senior Medical Officer (BS-19), as the new District Health Officer (BS-19/20) for Jamshoro.



Previously serving as the Additional District Health Officer (BS-19) at the District Health Office in Dadu, Dr. Khooharo assumed his new position following the retirement of Dr. Imamuddin Khoso, on January 10.



According to an official notification issued on 2nd January, Dr. Khooharo will officially take charge of the post after Dr. Khoso’s retirement.



Sargodha writers’ club undergoes reorganization:

Sargodha: The reorganization of the Sargodha Writers' Club was announced during a special meeting of prominent poets, writers, and literary representatives across the region.

The meeting presided over by the esteemed poet and club patron, Mumtaz Arif, focused on revitalizing literary activities in the coming year.

Key decisions included the unanimous reappointment of Mumtaz Arif as Patron-in-Chief and Prof. Yousaf Khalid as President. Prof. Dr. Syed Murtaza Hasan was named General Secretary, while Zulfiqar Ahsan assumed the role of Information Secretary.Both appointees bring decades of experience and dedication to Sargodha's literary identity.

Dr. Murtaza previously served as General Secretary for a decade, and Zulfiqar Ahsan was promoting literary activities for over 20 years through his renowned magazine Asalib.

Additionally, a six-member advisory committee was formed to enhance the club's efficiency and activities.

The committee includes Dr. Haroon-ur-Rasheed Tabassum, Dr. Asif Raaz, Najma Mansoor, Dr. Shafiq Asif, Munazza Anwar Gujandi, and Dr. Samina Gul.

During the meeting, various strategies were discussed to strengthen connections among writers and streamline literary activities.The club plans to begin its 2025 events in early January, with initiatives aimed at showcasing Sargodha's literary contributions through newspapers, journals, and social media platforms.

This renewed focus on fostering literary engagement reflects the club's commitment to celebrating and advancing the region's rich literary heritage.

Health minister annoys over absenteeism in Nahaqi Satellite Hospital

Peshawar: Provincial Advisor for Health Ihtisham Ali on Thursday visited Nahaqi Satellite Hospital on Charsadda Road and inspected duty roster, attendance register and medicine store of the health facility.

During visit, he expressed concern over mismanagement, absenteeism and presence of expired medicines in the store.

He directed health authorities to suspend Medical Superintendent (MS) and Women Medical Officer (WMO) and start departmental inquiries against them.

He also expressed displeasure over absence of gynecologist, laboratory and X-Ray technician from duties. He also warned action against employees that are indulged in habit of continuous absenteeism and said that salaries would no longer be paid to them.

DIG Sukkur visits orphanage

Sukkur: On the occasion of the new year, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Sukkur Captain (R) Faisal Abdullah Chachar on Thursday visited the Farzana Welfare Organization (Ferry Home), accompanied by the Child Protection Cell staff.

He spent time with the orphaned girls, inquired about the facilities provided, and celebrated the new year by cutting a cake and distributing gifts.

DIG Sukkur praised the efforts of Ms Farzana Khoso, founder of Ferry Home, and encouraged everyone to support her mission. He emphasized the need to promote tolerance and positivity in society.

Farzana Khoso thanked DIG Sukkur for his surprise visit and generous gifts, saying it boosted the morale of the girls.

She expressed her hope that these girls would receive quality education and go on to become successful individuals, making their institution and country proud.

Meeting discuss collaboration between WFD, service providers

Peshawar: Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Muhammad Waqas here Thursday chaired a meeting to discuss matters relating to collaboration between Women Facilitation Desk (WFD) and service providers.

The meeting was held under Sarhad Rural Support Program and GIZ. The meeting was also informed about objectives of WFD, their achievements, challenges and progress on ongoing projects.

Addressing the meeting, assistant commissioner highlighted the importance of women's access to services center and their involvement in governance. He assured support and cooperation of district administration stressing steps for women empowerment.

On the occasion, stakeholders concurred to cooperation and develop coordination for solving women's problems.
