Sargodha: The Civil Defence has released its performance report for the year 2024.

According to the details, effective action was taken against illegal oil agencies and poor fire safety arrangements in the year 2024. The department lodged 170 cases with police stations across the district, including 78 cases against commercial and industrial institutions for poor fire safety. Sixty illegal petrol agencies, 159 illegal petrol and LPG shops were sealed. A fine of Rs1155,000 was imposed while Civil Defence organized training classes in 106 institutions and conducted 352 training sessions. The spokesman said that 4,372 people were trained in first aid and firefighting.

Civil Defence Officer Saira Rafique Khan said that poor fire safety in businesses and institutions would not be tolerated and action would continue as per law. In addition, the Civil Defence Bomb Disposal staff conducted a search and sweep of 3,225 gatherings/places, courts and buildings across the district along with the police and Special Branch while six mock exercises were conducted and 13 bomb threat calls were received, which were responded to promptly and action was taken.

Sargodha: Commissioner Jahanzeb Awan inaugurated a new masjid, public park and security cameras at the District Bar.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Waseem, DPO Dr. Asad Ijaz Malhi, SP Headquarters Ziaullah, Station in-charge reporter Makhdoom shah latif,former president Sahiwal Bar Makhoodm Ghulam Ali Advocate ,President Bar Syed Mohsin Shirazi Advocate, Secretary Law Farrukh Javed Cheema Advocate, former Justice Masood Jahangir and Rao Fazlur Rehman Advocate, besides other administrative and police officers and lawyers in large numbers.

A place was dedicated by the district administration adjacent to the District Bar for the masjid where about four hundred worshippers can offer prayers at a time. Commissioner Jahanzeb Awan said that mosques are the fortresses and beacons of light of Islam, which have always played their role in promoting the welfare of humanity, respect for humanity and spreading the universal message of Islam. He said that Islam is a religion of coexistence, mosques are centers of spiritual and intellectual guidance for the Muslim Ummah. Jahanzeb Awan said he was very happy that a beautiful mosque had been established which would become a symbol of peace, tolerance, understanding and a beacon of light. The Commissioner also inaugurated the lawyers' park adjacent to the bar room. Officers, along with lawyers and officials, also inaugurated CCTV cameras for the security of the bar room, lawyers' chambers and the district court. Later, shields were also distributed among administrative and police officers and lawyers. Bar Pre sident Syed Mohsin Shirazi thanked all the guests.

Peshawar: In compliance with the provincial government's directives, the district administration of Peshawar has taken swift action to seal an illegal peanut factory situated in the residential area of Chamkani.

The factory, which had been causing significant noise pollution and environmental hazards, was a major source of distress for local residents.

Following numerous complaints from the community, the administration conducted a raid and sealed the factory. During the operation, the factory manager was arrested on the spot.

Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Sarfraz Saim Akram, emphasized that strict measures would continue to be enforced against illegal commercial activities in residential zones to maintain a clean and peaceful environment for citizens.

The district administration has urged the public to report any illegal activities or local issues to the concerned authorities for immediate action.

Kot addu: In line with the visionary leadership of Punjab's Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, significant progress has been made on the Model City Project aimed at addressing the city's long-standing sewage issues.

The Managing Director of Punjab Municipal Development, Syed Zahid Aziz, confirmed the acquisition of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Environment Department, clearing a major procedural hurdle for the project.

World Bank Program Officer Salman Mirza announced the imminent commencement of the mega sewage and water treatment initiative, funded with an investment of Rs1.25 billion. He expressed optimism that work would begin by mid-January or February, offering much-needed relief to the residents.

Former Provincial Minister for Prisons, Malik Ahmad Yar Hinjra, played a pivotal role in advocating for the project, emphasizing the urgent need to tackle Kot Addu's critical sewage drainage problems. 'An underground sewage system will be installed across the city to provide a long-term solution to waterlogging and sanitation issues,' he stated.

The Deputy Commissioner of Kot Addu has been lauded for facilitating the completion of essential paperwork, which has expedited the project's launch. Salman Mirza also noted that once the Irrigation Department grants its NOC, work on the water treatment plant will proceed without delay.

This development promises to improve urban infrastructure significantly and enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Kot Addu. The project reflects the government's commitment to sustainable urban management and environmental conservation.

Sargodha: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) caught three power pilferers during an ongoing crackdown here on Monday.

According to official sources, a team raided various areas of the district and caught three accused involved in electricity theft from main lines and meter tampering. They were identified as Saleem, Rehman and Dolat Khan. Police registered cases against them.
