Chiniot Traffic Police fine 342 motorists in 24-hour enforcement drive

Chiniot : Traffic police in Chiniot issued 342 challans and imposed fines exceeding Rs600,000 during a 24-hour enforcement campaign aimed at improving road safety and ensuring compliance with traffic laws, police said on Sunday.



The operation targeted a range of traffic violations, with action taken against 31 unlicensed drivers, 47 overloaded vehicles, five vehicles without registration plates, five underage drivers, six motorcyclists riding without helmets and six smoke-emitting vehicles. Police also issued challans for 213 other traffic offences.



District Police Officer Dr. Naveed Atif said the enforcement drive was part of broader efforts to ensure the safe movement of citizens. He added that traffic police were conducting awareness campaigns alongside enforcement measures to help reduce road accidents through greater public compliance with traffic regulations.



The DPO urged motorists to observe traffic laws for their own safety and that of others, adding that a special campaign was also underway to facilitate the issuance of driving licences. He encouraged citizens to obtain a valid driving licence as a demonstration of responsible and law-abiding driving.
