CM calls for strengthening global humanitarian assistance


Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid glowing tribute to aid workers, volunteers, doctors, nurses, rescue personnel and welfare workers serving humanity across the world. In her message on World Humanitarian Day, she said their selfless services inspire hope and embody the highest values of compassion and humanity. She said humanitarian workers risk their lives in war-hit and disaster-stricken areas to help those in need, adding that they not only provide food, shelter and medical care but also bring hope to distressed communities.



The CM said the spirit of serving humanity transcends race, colour, religion and all forms of discrimination. ‘Humanity is a great bond that rises above all relationships and knows no borders, ‘ she remarked.



CM Maryam Nawaz called upon the international community to further strengthen efforts to ensure



timely, effective and impartial humanitarian assistance reaches every deserving person without discrimination.



Reaffirming the Punjab government’s commitment to public welfare, she said the provincial government remained dedicated to promoting compassion, safeguarding human dignity and expanding support for vulnerable segments of society by providing them with protection, assistance and opportunities to lead dignified lives.



The chief minister said Pakistan’s decades-long hosting of millions of Afghan refugees stands as a shining example of humanity, hospitality and mutual cooperation. She added that whether in times of peace or crisis, the Punjab government would continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with all efforts aimed at upholding the highest humanitarian values and promoting the spirit of service to mankind.



‘Dedicating oneself to easing the hardships of others is both an act of public service and an act of worship, ‘ the CM added.
