Faisalabad: Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh has strictly directed that patients undergoing treatment in government hospitals across the division be provided with medicines directly at their bedsides in their respective wards.
He issued these instructions while visiting various wards at the DHQ Hospital, Chiniot, where he inquired about the patients’ well-being and the availability of medicines.
Deputy Commissioner Chiniot Ayesha Rizwan and other officials were also present.
The Commissioner visited different wards including the dialysis center and the medical emergency unit, to review the medical facilities and treatment being provided to patients.
He stated that no patient should be referred to another hospital unnecessarily without a consultant’s recommendation.
He directed the Deputy Commissioner to identify the reasons behind referrals; if the lack of specific machinery was causing an increase in referral cases, arrangements would be made to procure the necessary equipment.
The Commissioner emphasized that no obstacles would be tolerated in ensuring the benefits of the Punjab Chief Minister’s revolutionary health initiatives reach ordinary patients without interruption.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the hospital at all times.
Additionally, the Commissioner inspected the under-construction Chiniot-Faisalabad dual carriageway.
He took on-site briefing from the Highways Department and noted that the construction of the road was a long-standing public demand that had been rapidly fulfilled; however, he urged the completion of the finishing work without delay.
