Mirpur: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani has directed the Communications and Works Department to fast-track development projects in line with public needs, ensure timely completion of road schemes and strictly adhere to prescribed construction quality and standards.
Chairing a meeting of the Communications and Works Department in the state metropolis late Thursday, the prime minister called for a comprehensive improvement in road infrastructure across the state. He particularly directed the authorities to develop dedicated tracks for the operation of green electric buses in major cities as part of efforts to modernize the transport network.
The prime minister also ordered expedited work on several key roads in the capital, including the Ambore-Chehla Road, widening of the Gojra Bypass-Shaukat Line Road and necessary improvements to the Upper Addmmm Bus Stand-Eidgah Road. He further directed that progress on the CMH Flyover be monitored on a daily basis to ensure its timely completion.
Secretary Communications and Works Muhammad Naeem Bismil briefed the meeting on the Annual Development Programme and progress on ongoing projects. Principal Secretary Adnan Khurshid, Secretary Communications and Works Muhammad Naeem Bismil, Chief Engineer Highways and other senior officials of the department attended the meeting.
