Sargodha: Commissioner Hafiz Shaukat Ali on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s political, diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people and said the Kashmir issue should be resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
He expressed these views while talking to media after led a rally started from the Arts Council Complex and concluded at DPO Chowk to mark Kashmir Exploitation Day and express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry and District Police Officer (DPO) Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem were accompanied him while Additional Deputy Commissioner (Municipal Services) Muhammad Atif, administrative officers, government employees, students and members of civil society also participated.
The programme began with a one-minute silence,participants carried Pakistani and Kashmiri flags, banners and placards highlighting unity with the Kashmiri people.
He also expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine and said Pakistan stood with nation striving for freedom and justice.
Later,the officials attended a seminar where students from various educational institutions presented tableaus, delivered speeches and performed national songs to pay tribute to the martyrs.
They also inaugurated a photo exhibition organized by the Arts Council depicting the situation in IIOJK.
The ceremony concluded with the inauguration of a tree plantation campaign at the Arts Council Complex, where the commissioner, deputy commissioner and DPO planted saplings.
Special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s peace, progress and stability as well as for the well-being and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
