Commissioner reviews completion and beautification of vehari road

Multan: Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan chaired a review meeting to assess the completion, repair, green belts and beautification of dividers along Vehari Road. The meeting was informed that the road had been damaged at several points due to unauthorized road cuts made by citizens.

The commissioner directed that strict action be taken against those responsible for damaging the road without permission and ordered registration of FIRs against the persons involved. He directed the DPO to ensure that the relevant SHOs arrange regular patrolling along Vehari Road to protect the road infrastructure and take immediate action against anyone causing damage.

The commissioner ordered that damaged portions of the approximately 93-kilometre-long Vehari Road be repaired on a durable basis. He directed that the damaged sections be repaired using concrete and strong reinforcement mesh to ensure their long-term sustainability.

He also directed officials to make photographs and locations of all repaired sites part of the official record. During construction work, the contractor was instructed to ensure round-the-clock monitoring and adequate lighting at the work sites.

The meeting also discussed a plantation plan for the beautification of green belts and road dividers along Vehari Road. Officials briefed the meeting that around 12,000 saplings would be planted along the road.

The commissioner directed the concerned authorities to ensure proper care and survival of the saplings already planted along the road.

He set the end of September as the target for completion of the scheduled works, including road repairs and plantation.
