DC Multan orders expansion of plantation, improved facilities at city parks

Multan: Deputy Commissioner Dr Faisal Saleem on Saturday directed authorities to expand plantation activities and improve cleanliness and public facilities at Madni Park and other parks across the city.

During a visit to Madni Park, the deputy commissioner inspected cleanliness arrangements, green belts, lawns, flower beds, walking tracks, lighting, seating areas, drinking water facilities and the upkeep of plants and trees. Managing Director Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Muhammad Wasim accompanied him.

Dr Faisal directed officials to focus on shade-giving, fruit-bearing and ornamental plants to create a cleaner, greener and healthier environment for citizens. He stressed that plantation efforts must go beyond planting saplings, with proper watering, protection and regular maintenance ensured.

He also ordered improvements in cleanliness, maintenance of green areas and beautification measures, while calling for more opportunities for healthy recreational activities in public parks.

The deputy commissioner said parks play an important role in citizens’ physical and mental well-being and therefore require continued attention to cleanliness, beautification and basic amenities.

He added that the district administration was taking practical measures in line with Punjab government directives to make Multan cleaner, greener and more beautiful. Relevant departments had been directed to work in coordination to improve public spaces, parks and green belts and provide citizens with a better environment and quality civic facilities.
