Multan: Cotton arrivals at ginning factories across the country reached 1, 113, 513 bales as of August 15, 2026, registering an increase of 226, 112 bales, or 25. 48 percent, compared with 887, 401 bales recorded during the corresponding period last year, according to the Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association (PCGA).
The PCGA’s consolidated statement showed that textile mills purchased 937, 817 bales, while exporters and traders bought 13, 000 bales.
The total unsold stock stood at 162, 696 bales, comprising 68, 208 pressed bales and 94, 488 bales of phutti (unginned cotton), compared with an unsold stock of 80, 913 bales during the corresponding period last year.
The fortnightly arrival flow stood at 327, 691 bales this year against 293, 580 bales last year, showing an increase of 11. 62 percent.
The number of operational ginning factories also increased to 268 from 244 during the corresponding period last year, registering an addition of 24 factories.
Province-wise, Punjab recorded cotton arrivals of 379, 211 bales against 369, 550 bales last year, showing a marginal increase of 2. 61 percent.
Sindh and Balochistan together recorded arrivals of 734, 302 bales, up 41. 80 percent from 517, 851 bales during the corresponding period last year.
Among Punjab’s cotton-growing districts, Dera Ghazi Khan remained the leading producer with 78, 821 bales, showing an increase of 42. 59 percent, followed by Vehari with 67, 899 bales and Khanewal with 49, 149 bales.
Layyah recorded the highest growth among Punjab districts, with arrivals reaching 35, 299 bales, up 64. 49 percent. Muzaffargarh, however, reported no arrivals compared with 7, 002 bales during the same period last year.
In Sindh, Sanghar remained the top-producing district with 550, 745 bales, up 41. 01 percent from 390, 651 bales last year, followed by Hyderabad with 44, 001 bales and Balochistan with 43, 840 bales.
Nawabshah recorded the highest growth in Sindh, with cotton arrivals more than tripling to 28, 000 bales from 9, 100 bales during the corresponding period last year.
