Faisalabad: City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain has stressed the need for collective efforts to promote sports and encourage young people, particularly girls, to pursue their sporting talent with confidence.
Addressing a ceremony as the chief guest at the Jawad Sports and Cultural Complex on Sunday, he said the facility has been playing a significant role in creating opportunities for youngsters to participate in healthy sporting activities. He noted that encouraging girls to enter sports is especially important for nurturing future national-level athletes and preparing promising competitors for national and international arenas.
The CPO specifically appreciated Maham Nazakat, a player of the Hameeda Afzal Cricket Team associated with the Jawad Sports and Cultural Complex, for her outstanding performance in the South Africa Under-19 Women’s Cricket Series 2026. He remarked that Maham has brought laurels to Pakistan, Faisalabad, and the Jawad Club through her exceptional achievements and deserves widespread encouragement.
Highlighting the importance of community support, CPO Tanveer Hussain urged all segments of society to play their part in fostering an environment where young athletes can develop their skills and compete at higher levels. In recognition of her brilliant performance, he presented a cash prize of Rs 100, 000 to Maham Nazakat.
Earlier, Chief Executive Jawad Sports and Cultural Complex Sheikh Jawad Afzal presented an honorary shield to CPO Tanveer Hussain in acknowledgment of his participation and continued support for sports.
The event was attended by General Manager Jawad Club Mian Nadeem Ashraf, GM J-Tex Rizwan, Head Coach Naveed Nazir, Mian Kashif Fareed, Naeem Ashraf, Farrukh Mahmood, Hafiz Amin-ul-Haq, Muhammad Maqsood, Sheikh Umar, Rana Qaiser, Rana Munir Ahmed, alongside various cricket team players.
