Quetta: Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan chaired a high-level conference of Deputy Commissioners to review progress on public welfare initiatives, provision of basic facilities, accelerated completion of development projects, and the repatriation of undocumented foreign nationals.
The meeting was attended by relevant secretaries, commissioners, and deputy commissioners from across the province. Addressing the participants, the Chief Secretary directed all officers to remain accessible to the public and ensure prompt redressal of grievances.
He emphasized that water supply, healthcare, education, and road infrastructure remain top provincial priorities and must be delivered more effectively.
The meeting was informed that under the Monitoring and Evaluation Section, 516 projects have been completed, while nearly 90 percent of the 4, 047 schemes launched under BSDI Phases I and II have reached completion. The Chief Secretary urged stronger monitoring to ensure timely completion of the remaining
projects.
The conference also stressed the need to ensure collection of agricultural income tax to strengthen financial transparency and departmental capacity. Strict monitoring of food prices was ordered to provide systematic relief to citizens. It was noted that 53 open courts had been held across the province in the past month, registering 953 complaints.
The Chief Secretary instructed officers to resolve these complaints swiftly and provide timely responses to affected individuals.
The meeting was further informed that a 15-day ban has been imposed on the sale and transportation of explosives and certain fertilizers, with strict enforcement of safety regulations. Prefabricated housing units for officers in various districts are nearing completion, aimed at improving service delivery and providing better facilities for officials.
The Chief Secretary directed that plantation be carried out at these sites and other government buildings to promote environmental improvement, afforestation, and greening.

hakeel Qadir Khan underscored that provincial machinery must work in unison for public welfare and adopt integrated strategies to address citizens’ issues at the district level. He reiterated that timely completion and transparency in development projects are hallmarks of effective governance, and continuous monitoring will remain in place to ensure accountability and results.
