Kohat: District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat SSP Rai Mazhar Iqbal conducted surprise inspections of Police Stations Lachi and Mills on Sunday, reviewing security arrangements, lock-ups, official records and overall policing measures. During the visits, he also met detainees to inquire about their conditions and checked cleanliness and security arrangements at the lock-ups.
The DPO examined registers, daily diaries and other official documents and directed police officials to ensure proper maintenance of records in accordance with prescribed rules and regulations. He also interacted with complainants at the police stations, heard their grievances and instructed officers to resolve public complaints promptly and strictly on merit.
Taking notice of negligence and unsatisfactory performance, SSP Rai Mazhar Iqbal ordered the immediate line closure of the SHO of Lachi Police Station and the station clerk. He said provision of better services to citizens, timely dispensation of justice and effective policing were among the top priorities, warning that negligence or dereliction of duty would not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, Kohat Traffic Police, under the directives of DPO Rai Mazhar Iqbal and supervision of SP Traffic Akbar Shinwari, launched a special crackdown against vehicles using tinted windows and displaying non-standard or fancy number plates. Traffic teams conducted checking at highways and key points, issued challans to violators and removed unauthorized number plates, while citizens were urged to comply with traffic laws for improved road safety and smooth traffic management.
