Tank: The monthly meeting of Daman Press Club Tank (Registered) was held under the chairmanship of President Dr. Sheikh Ehsan, with the participation of all office-bearers and members.
During the meeting, General Secretary Muhammad Shahid presented the monthly performance report of the members, which was appreciated by the participants.
The members expressed satisfaction over the professional activities and journalistic performance of the press club.
The meeting particularly appreciated Deputy Commissioner Tank Jamshed Khan for his commendable public service, accessibility to citizens and effective implementation of an open-door policy.
The participants said that the Deputy Commissioner’s availability to the public, willingness to listen to their grievances and efforts to address public issues through the relevant departments were highly appreciable.
They expressed hope that the district administration would continue such public-friendly initiatives for the welfare and betterment of the people of Tank.
The participants also expressed serious concern over the alleged use of substandard material in various ongoing development projects across the district.
They demanded that the relevant departments took immediate notice of the issue, ensure proper monitoring of development schemes and took action wherever the use of substandard material was found, to utilize public funds transparently and development projects were completed according to the required standards.
The meeting also discussed the frequent closure of roads and traffic diversions in the name of curfew.
The participants said that the closure of major roads and the use of lengthy alternative routes were causing serious difficulties for traders, students, government employees, patients and ordinary citizens.
They appealed to the GOC 40 Division to take immediate notice of the issue and facilitate public movement wherever possible while keeping security requirements in consideration.
The participants further expressed concern over the poor sanitation situation in Tank city, particularly the presence of garbage heaps at various locations.
They urged the TMO to improve the sanitation system, ensure regular removal of waste and take effective measures to maintain cleanliness throughout the city.
Addressing the meeting, President Daman Press Club Dr. Sheikh Ehsan said that journalists were the voice of the people and should continue highlighting public issues in a responsible and impartial manner so that the concerned authorities could take timely action.
He said that Daman Press Club Tank would continue to remain available for the people and its platform would always be open for highlighting genuine public issues.
He emphasized that the role of journalism was not limited to reporting news but also included raising awareness, highlighting public grievances and contributing positively to the development and welfare of society.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation that members of Daman Press Club would continue to highlight public issues, development-related concerns and problems faced by citizens through responsible journalism.
The participants also expressed their commitment to maintaining constructive engagement with the district administration and relevant departments for the resolution of public grievances and the overall development of Tank district.
