Hyderabad: Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, chaired a meeting regarding arrangements for celebration of Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14.
The meeting was held at Darbar Hall Thursday. Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner said that Independence Day is a symbol of national unity, solidarity, and patriotism and for that reason, all Independence Day celebrations across the district should be organized in a dignified manner with great national enthusiasm.
DC said that the central flag-hoisting ceremony on August 14 would be held at Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where schoolchildren would present patriotic songs and tableaux. He directed all concerned departments to ensure comprehensive coordination for organizing flag-hoisting ceremonies, rallies, tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, sports competitions, patriotic songs, speech contests, and other Independence Day events.
Deputy Commissioner instructed that government buildings, major roads, intersections, and public places be decorated with national flags, illuminated with decorative lights, and beautified appropriately. He also directed concerned departments to ensure effective security, traffic management, sanitation, medical facilities, and other necessary arrangements so that citizens could participate in the celebrations in a safe and peaceful environment. DC also directed HESCO administration to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during the Independence Day celebrations. The meeting decided that fruits and sweets would be distributed among prisoners in the district jail and patients admitted to hospitals on the occasion of Independence Day. During the meeting, officers from various departments briefed participants on their assigned responsibilities and proposed programmes.
