Peshawar: The funeral prayers of martyred police constable Noor Alam were offered with full state honours at Iqbal Shaheed Police Lines in Bannu on Thursday.
The funeral was attended by DIG Bannu Region Rab Nawaz Khan, DPO Bannu Muhammad Furqan Bilal, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Faheem, SP City CTD Fazal Waheed Khan, senior police officers, personnel from across the district and relatives of the martyr.
The senior officials laid floral wreaths on the martyr’s coffin, while a smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour.
Special prayers were offered for the elevation of the martyr’s ranks and for patience and strength for the bereaved family.
According to police, Constable Noor Alam was serving as a beat officer in the limits of Utmanzai Police Station.
He was on his way from home to duty on Thursday morning when unidentified motorcycle-riding terrorists opened fire on him near Gul Zaman Mosque in Mamash Khel on the Bannu-Miranshah Road, martyring him on the spot.
Police officials reiterated that the force would always honour the supreme sacrifices rendered by its brave personnel, saying the martyrs’ unwavering commitment and courage remain a symbol of the nation’s resolve to uphold peace, stability and the rule of law.
