Chiniot: Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan on Friday visited the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital and reviewed medical and administrative operations, patient facilities, cleanliness, waste management and safety arrangements.
During the visit, the deputy commissioner inspected emergency exit points and other safety measures and reviewed arrangements for the disposal of surgical equipment, used injections, plastic glucose bottles and other medical waste. She also examined the functioning of the hospital’s medical waste incinerator and assessed the performance of the staff concerned.
Ayesha Rizwan directed the hospital administration to ensure the safe, timely and proper disposal of medical waste in accordance with prescribed procedures. She stressed that effective waste management was essential to protect patients, healthcare workers and visitors from potential health and safety risks.
The deputy commissioner also directed the Medical Superintendent of DHQ Hospital, Chief Officer of the Municipal Committee, Managing Director of WASA and other relevant officials to further improve cleanliness, sewerage, waste management and safety arrangements in and around the hospital. She said provision of quality healthcare should go hand in hand with maintaining hygiene, ensuring proper medical waste disposal and enforcing safety protocols.
