Quetta: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hub Juma Dad Khan Mandukhel on Monday chaired a meeting of the District Coordination Committee (DCC) regarding preparation of Independence Day (August 14).
In the meeting. a detailed review of 14th August Independence Day celebrations. law and order. traffic management. anti-drug. anti-smuggling. security of government buildings and other important issues were taken.
The meeting was attended by officers from the Police. FC. District Administration. Excise Department. ANF. Pakistan Customs. Intelligence Agencies. LIEDA. Local Government Institutions and other relevant departments.
Deputy Commissioner Hub directed that 14th August Independence Day would be celebrated with national enthusiasm and dignity.
All government departments were directed to decorate their buildings with national flags and illuminate them with beautiful lights.
Chief Officer Municipal Committee Hub was directed to hoist the national flag on the RCD route from Bab-e-Balochistan to Gatron Mode. while MD LIEDA was directed to hoist the national flag on LIEDA Road.
All heads and officers of departments were directed to attend the main flag hoisting ceremony at 7:45 am on August 14 and to ensure full participation in the main Independence Day ceremony to be held at LIEDA Auditorium at 9 am.
Assistant Commissioners Vinder and Draji were also directed to organize Independence Day celebrations in their respective sub-divisions with the cooperation of Chief Officers and Tehsildars.
It was decided in the meeting that a flag march would be organized by the police. FC and other law enforcement agencies. which would start from LIEDA office. pass through different areas of Hub city and end again at LIEDA office.
The flag march would be led by SP Hub and the concerned Wing Commander.
In connection with the Independence Day celebrations. Sports Officer Hub was directed to organize exhibition matches/tournaments of shooting ball. football and cricket. while prizes and certificates would be distributed among the successful teams and players.
The Deputy Commissioner directed to adopt a zero tolerance policy against wall chalking and hoisting of flags of banned organizations without permission and directed the police. FC and intelligence agencies to take immediate and legal action.
The meeting decided that banks. petrol pumps and industrial units across the district would be made obliged to light up the buildings and hoist the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day.
LIEDA and Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry were directed to ensure the implementation of this decision at industrial units. while Assistant Commissioners Hub and Vander were directed to ensure the implementation of this decision at petrol pumps in their respective areas.
It was also decided to ensure the security of government buildings. offices. schools. institutions. rest houses and government residential houses and complete verification of the residents.
All heads of departments were directed to submit a verification and implementation report to the district administration within 24 hours.
Regarding uninterrupted power supply. the meeting directed GM K-Electric to ensure power supply on August 14. while load shedding should be kept to a minimum from August 11 to 14.
Regarding traffic. the meeting decided that strict action would be taken against traffic rule violations. illegal parking. speeding. signal violations and illegal number plates.
It was directed to strictly implement the ban on entry of heavy vehicles into the city and ensure alternative routes and working hours.
The meeting decided to further intensify the operation against drugs. The ANF and the Excise Department were directed to increase intelligence-based operations. make inter-agency cooperation more effective and take action against the drug network.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the recent major operation against drug smuggling by the Excise Department with the cooperation of the Pakistan Navy.
It was also decided to adopt a zero tolerance policy against smuggling. It was decided to launch joint operations against the stockpiled stock of smuggled goods under the leadership of Pakistan Customs. in which the district administration. police and FC would provide full support.
It was decided to increase special snap checking. search operations and security surveillance across the district from August 11 to 15 to maintain law and order on the occasion of Independence Day.
Special checking points would be set up at entry and exit routes. important intersections. sensitive places. markets and public places.
The meeting also decided to cancel all approved leaves of law enforcement officials from August 11 to 15 and not to grant new leaves during this period so that effective security arrangements could be ensured during the Independence Day celebrations.
Finally. the police were directed to provide adequate security to stalls and shopkeepers selling national flags. badges. flags and other national items and to increase patrols in these areas.
Deputy Commissioner Hub directed all relevant departments to ensure timely and effective implementation of the decisions taken in the meeting and to make the Independence Day celebrations peaceful. orderly and successful with national enthusiasm.
