Quetta: Deputy Commissioner Harnai Mir Arshad Jamali and Wing Commander Colonel Arbab Ali formally inaugurated Safe City CCTV Cameras project completed at a cost of Rs 23 million to develop the law and order situation in Harnai district on more effective and modern lines on Friday.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by a large number of people from the district administration, Frontier Corps (FC), police, Levies, Anjuman Tajran, tribal elders, social figures and people from different walks of life.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mir Arshad Jamali said that the Safe City project would prove to be an important milestone in improving law and order situation, preventing crime, monitoring traffic and protecting the lives and property of citizens in Harnai district
He said that the modern CCTV cameras installed under BSDI Phase-2 would effectively monitor the city’s important entry and exit routes, commercial centers, sensitive places and important highways around the clock.
He said that the modern surveillance system would significantly facilitate the law enforcement agencies in timely identification of criminal elements, monitoring of suspicious activities and taking immediate action in any emergency situation.
He said that the Balochistan government is making full use of modern technology to provide a safe environment to the people and the completion of this project in Harnai is an important link in this chain.
While addressing the ceremony, Wing Commander Col. Arbab Ali said that the use of modern technology would not only strengthen the security system but also increase the sense of security among the citizens.
He said that the FC and the district administration are working jointly to protect the lives and property of the people and establish sustainable peace and the Safe City project is the best example of this cooperation.
He further said that with the help of modern CCTV network, crime prevention, monitoring of movement of suspects, facilitation of investigation process and immediate response in emergencies could be made more effective.
Representatives of Anjuman Tajran also addressed the ceremony and said that the Safe City project in Harnai was a long-standing demand of traders and citizens which has been fulfilled today.
They thanked the Balochistan government, district administration and FC and said that this project would promote business activities, increase the sense of security in the markets and significantly reduce the crime rate.
The civic, social and tribal circles also welcomed the project and appreciated the efforts of the Balochistan government, district administration, FC, police and other relevant institutions.
They expressed the hope that the Safe City project would not only help in establishing law and order in Harnai but also further strengthen the trust between the public and law enforcement agencies.
At the end of the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Mir Arshad Jamali and Wing Commander Colonel Arbab Ali inspected the Safe City Control System and reviewed the performance of modern cameras installed at various locations.
They directed the relevant authorities to keep the surveillance system active at all times so that maximum protection could be provided to the public.
