SMIU students, faculty participate in beach cleanup drive as part of Independence Day celebrations


Karachi: Sindh Madressatul Islam University’s Faculty of Information Technology organised a beach cleanup drive under the title of ‘Clean shores, green Pakistan’ as a part of the Independence Day Celebrations of the country on Friday, August 7, 2026. Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Khuhro, chairperson of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Sciences, faculty members and students participated in the activity aimed to play one’s part in environmental improvement and the creation of a sustainable environment.

This activity was a part of the Pakistan Independence celebrations being observed by Sindh Madressatul Islam University from August 1st to August 14th.

Speaking on the occasion, faculty members and students remarked that environmental degradation has become a critical global issue, affecting every living being in the universe. Our rivers, seas, lakes, canals, and waterways are becoming choked with pollution; keeping them clean is not only a service to our country and its people but also a contribu
tion toward global environmental improvement.

Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Khuhro said that as part of SMIU’s civic engagement initiatives marking Pakistan’s Independence Day, students of the Faculty of Information Technology have joined hands to clean sea view beach and pledged their commitment to a cleaner and greener homeland.

He further said stated that we are celebrating 79 years of the Independence of Pakistan through a service to our environment and suggested that we must give back to the country that has given us freedom and secured future.
