Lodhran: Deputy Commissioner Lodhran Muhammad Ashraf visited the Urban Forest established by the Lodhran Pilot Project (LPP) on the occasion of National Tree Plantation Day and inspected the low-cost plantation model introduced there.
He also visited the LPP nursery, where he was briefed in detail on nursery management and plant production. Officials informed him that the nursery has the capacity to produce 80, 000 saplings annually.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said plants and trees were essential not only for the present generation but also for the generations to come. He appreciated the initiatives taken by the Lodhran Pilot Project to make the district greener, healthier and more environmentally friendly.
Later, the deputy commissioner, along with LPP Chief Executive Officer Dr Abdul Saboor and others, planted saplings in the eight-acre extended area of the Urban Forest.
Dr Abdul Saboor said the Lodhran Pilot Project continued its efforts for environmental protection, promotion of plantation and a sustainable future under the vision of LPP founder Jahangir Khan Tareen. He said that as part of these efforts, a 20-acre Urban Forest model had also been established, aimed at improving the environment and making Lodhran greener and more sustainable.
