Lahore: The local government department has decided to start a special birth registration campaign in 100 exemplary villages of Punjab, under which special camps will be set up to ensure timely registration of births of children. The department has issued a letter to the concerned assistant directors for the campaign, in which they have been directed to finalise the camp sites by August 31. According to the letter, three special birth registration camps will be set up in each exemplary village on different dates. The first three-day camp is tentatively planned to be held from September 15 to 17. An on-site digital registration system will be activated in the campus for quick registration of children, while local volunteers will be hired to reach out to remote and underprivileged populations. According to the department of local government, special information banners will also be displayed at public places during the campaign to inform citizens about the birth registration facility and the schedu
le of the campus. The letter has set a target of 100 percent birth registration in 100 exemplary villages.
