Karachi: Director General Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Asif Jan Siddiqui formally inaugurated the Independence Day celebrations by planting a sapling in the lawn of the Civic Centre.
On this occasion, a cake was cut to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, and a tree plantation campaign was inaugurated, said a statement on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, the DG KDA said that KDA will organize Independence Day celebrations this year.
In his address, Muhammad Ashraf, Chief Patron of the People’s Labour Union, said that the Independence Day celebrations will continue with full national spirit in KDA-managed schools, various SITE offices, and other institutions until August 14, 2026.
Numerous national activities, including various ceremonies, tree plantation drives, and national flag hoisting, will be organized under the aegis of the People’s Labour Union, he said.
