Kohat: The district administration has launched the district’s first government-backed digital marketplace to help local traders, young entrepreneurs and home-based women entrepreneurs promote their products and services online and access wider markets.
Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz Wazir here on Friday inaugurated the DigitalMarketplaceKohat.com at a ceremony attended by Additional Assistant Commissioners Mudassir Khan and Wajahatullah Mujahid, District Education Officer (Women) Nargis Jabeen, District Youth Officer Faisal Wazir and other officials.
The administration said that the platform was developed on the directives of the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to help local businesses adopt digital technology and expand their reach beyond traditional markets.
Additional Assistant Commissioner-I Mudassir Khan played a key role in developing the platform in collaboration with the District Youth Office.
Speaking at the ceremony, the DC said that digital technology had transformed the way businesses connected with customers, making it increasingly important to link local entrepreneurs with online markets.
He said that the new platform would enable businesses in Kohat to showcase their products and services to a wider customer base and potentially reach new buyers and markets.
Wazir particularly highlighted opportunities for young entrepreneurs and women running businesses from home and directed officials to ensure that the website remained accessible, effective and user-friendly.
An orientation session was also held for young entrepreneurs, who were briefed on using the website and registering their businesses on the digital platform.
Officials described the initiative as a step towards digitizing local commerce in Kohat, saying effective promotion of the platform could help local businesses reach new markets and customers.
