Rawalpindi: Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi on Thursday announced the results of the Matriculation First Annual Examination 2026, recording an overall pass percentage of 61. 31 percent.
The announcement was made during a ceremony held at Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi, where position-holding students were presented with a guard of honour. Member of National Assembly (MNA) Malik Abrar Ahmed attended the event as the chief guest.
Parliamentary Secretary for Information Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, MPAs Asma Naz Abbasi and Riffat Abbasi, Chairman BISE Rawalpindi Prof. Dr. Iqbal Mahmood, Secretary Board Prof. Amjad Iqbal Khattak, Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan, students, parents, and teachers were also present on the occasion.
According to official statistics, a total of 120, 411 candidates appeared in the examination. Female candidates outshone male students by securing a pass percentage of 70. 18 percent against 51. 99 percent recorded by male candidates.
In the overall rankings, Muhammad Mannan Ehtesham secured the first position by obtaining 1, 191 marks, Zunaira Tahir stood the second with 1, 180 marks, while Muhammad Fasih Abdullah bagged third podition securing 1, 178 marks.
The chief guest and official dignitaries later distributed awards, medals, and certificates among the top achievers.
Addressing the ceremony, MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed congratulated the successful candidates, position holders, parents, and teachers. He stated that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, practical measures were being taken to align the education sector with modern standards. He added that initiatives such as the Honhaar Scholarship Programme and the Laptop Scheme were key steps toward youth empowerment, merit, and transparency.
Parliamentary Secretary for Information Barrister Danyal Chaudhry appreciated the board administration, including Chairman Prof. Dr. Iqbal Mahmood, Secretary Prof. Amjad Iqbal Khattak, and Controller Tanveer Asghar Awan, for conducting transparent examinations and ensuring timely declaration of results. He reiterated that the provincial government was prioritizing merit, modern technology, and equal educational opportunities for students.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman BISE Rawalpindi Prof. Dr. Iqbal Mahmood and Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining high academic standards, noting that a strict zero-tolerance policy was enforced during the examinations to ensure complete transparency.
