Dera ghazi khan: The district administration, in collaboration with the Environment Protection Department (EPD), has demolished seven brick kilns operating without the mandatory zigzag technology as part of a crackdown on environmental violations and smog prevention.
Assistant Director EPD Ali Raza said, the action was carried out under the Punjab Environmental Protection Rules 2023, which require all brick kilns to adopt zigzag technology to reduce emissions and improve air quality.
The demolished kilns were located in Jhok Utra, Sher Shah Road and Jakhar Imam Shah. Those demolished included Dildar Bricks Company, Mian Naveed Bricks Company, Sabir Bricks Company, Malik Bricks Company, Azam Bricks Company, Sanjrani Bricks Company and Hanif and Abbas Bricks Company.
Ali Raza said the Punjab government is strictly enforcing environmental regulations to promote environmental protection technological interventions across the province.
He urged brick kiln owners to switch to zigzag technology and ensure full compliance with environmental laws, warning that strict legal action would continue against violators.
