Forests vital source of climate protection: Habib Hassan

Haripur: Additional Secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Climate Change, Environment, Forests and Wildlife Department Syed Habib Hassan Gilani visited Makhniyal Reserve Forest in Haripur and reviewed various affairs of the Forest Department.

At the Makhniyal Forest Rest House, the Divisional Forest Officer briefed him on the department’s performance and the issues faced by the field staff. Gilani also met with Forest Department employees and planted a deodar sapling at the rest house.

Speaking on the occasion, he said forests were not merely a collection of trees but a vital source of protection for the climate, water resources and future generations.

He said trees were the foundation of the green economy and stressed that the ongoing plantation campaign should focus not only on increasing forest cover but also on ensuring the proper care and protection of planted saplings.

Gilani appreciated the role of field staff in forest protection and promotion of plantation, saying conservation of forests was a continuous responsibility requiring the cooperation of local communities along with the Forest Department.
