Founder Group going into election on strength of performance: Sardar Tahir


Islamabad: President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Sardar Tahir Mehmood on Tuesday said that the ICCI Founder Group is entering the 2026-28 election with a clear record of performance, practical initiatives and tangible delivery, seeking the business community’s mandate on the basis of what it has accomplished rather than mere promises.



The election for the ICCI Executive Committee for the 2026-28 term is scheduled to be held on September 16, 2026, he said and expressed confidence that the business community would recognize and support a leadership that has consistently worked to strengthen the chamber’s role as an effective voice and facilitation platform for the private sector.



Sardar Tahir Mehmood said the Founder Group believes that the real strength of a chamber lies not in slogans but in performance, continuity, credibility and delivery, said a press release.



We believe in serving the business community through practical initiatives, strong advocacy and measurable results, he said adding that during the current tenure, ICCI has intensified its efforts to improve the ease of doing business, reduce regulatory bottlenecks and build stronger institutional linkages between the business community and government departments.



The chamber has consistently raised issues relating to taxation, energy costs, CDA regulations, property and commercial matters, infrastructure, parking, business facilitation and other challenges affecting investment and enterprise, he added.



The ICCI President highlighted the chamber’s growing role as a business facilitation and problem-solving platform, including engagement with government institutions, regulatory bodies, diplomatic missions and international business organizations.



He said that facilitation initiatives and dedicated engagements with institutions have helped create more direct channels for the business community to resolve operational issues and access government services.



Mehmood said ICCI has also significantly expanded its international outreach and commercial diplomacy, organizing business delegations, business opportunity conferences, B2B engagements and investment-focused activities with important international markets.
