Dera ismail khan:Gomal University organised a science exhibition at its Institute of Chemical Sciences to promote scientific research, highlight the practical applications of chemistry, and encourage students to pursue higher education and research.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal inaugurated the exhibition, organised under the supervision of Institute of Chemical Sciences Director Prof Dr Hidayatullah Khattak. Dean of the Faculty of Sciences Prof Dr Asma Saeed, Registrar Imranullah Marwat, Director Administration Zahir Shah Marwat, Director Affiliations Prof Dr Muhammad Adeel, faculty members and a large number of students attended the event.
Students from various degree colleges, along with MPhil and PhD scholars and researchers, displayed research projects, scientific models and practical demonstrations.
The exhibition aimed to familiarise students with emerging scientific trends, contemporary challenges and the role of chemistry in everyday life, while highlighting the institute’s academic and research contributions.
The visiting students took a keen interest in the projects and interacted with researchers to learn about various scientific concepts. The exhibition also provided undergraduate students with an opportunity to explore research opportunities and consider pursuing MPhil and PhD programmes.
During his visit, Vice Chancellor Prof Zafar Iqbal interacted with students, researchers and faculty members and appreciated the institute’s academic and research legacy. He expressed his resolve to restore its former standing as a leading centre of chemical sciences, recalling that its graduates and faculty members had established themselves as internationally recognised scientists.
The vice-chancellor stressed the need to promote high-quality research and scientific activities in line with international standards. He urged PhD scholars and researchers to focus on emerging fields with practical applications, particularly solar cells, photon-related concepts and innovative solutions to the energy crisis.
He also announced plans to organise international conferences and make progress towards publishing quality research journals to enhance the university’s research profile and visibility at the international level.
At the conclusion of the exhibition, the vice-chancellor distributed certificates among students who presented outstanding scientific projects and research work. He appreciated the efforts of the institute’s administration, faculty, researchers and students in making the event a success.
