Quetta: Commissioner Lasbela Division Saira Atta on Friday said that incumbent provincial government was taking practical steps to develop Balochistan in each sectors for welfare of public.
She said this while visiting Kanraj Tehsil of Lasbela District.
On the occasion of the visit, DC Lasbela Humaira Baloch and DIG Lasbela Division Abdul Qayyum Pitafi, SP Lasbela Najibullah Pindrani accompanied her.
The Commissioner and other administrative officers were welcomed by Chinese officials on arrival at the Duddar Project Site Camp Office Tehsil Kanraj.
The Chairman Daddar Project gave the Commissioner a detailed briefing and presentation about the project, in which the overall performance, production, activities and other related matters of the project were informed.
The Commissioner Lasbela Division was informed during the briefing that the Duddar Zinc and Lead Project is Pakistan’s first and largest underground metal mining project, which has been established in Kanraj Tehsil of Lasbela District to extract zinc and lead in Balochistan.
He said in the briefing that this project is a joint venture between Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) and the Government of Balochistan.
He said that the mine is being operated by MCC Huaye Duddar Mining Company (MHD) and is the first fully operational underground metal mining project in Pakistan’s history.
In the briefing, Chinese officials informed the Commissioner Lasbela Division that the material extracted from the mining mine is cleaned to produce zinc concentrate and lead concentrate, which is later exported or processed.
The Commissioner Lasbela Division and DIG Lasbela reviewed the overall security, law and order, security arrangements, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives, safety arrangements and other related matters of the project and questioned the project management on various issues.
On this occasion, the district administration and police officials assured the project management of full cooperation regarding the security and other administrative matters of the project.
The Commissioner Lasbela Division Saira Atta expressed her satisfaction on work of the Duddar Project and the district administration.
