Quetta: Secretary Irrigation Department Balochistan Sohail Rehman Baloch chaired a high-level review meeting in Quetta, assessing the progress of ongoing development projects, completed schemes, and future initiatives.
Senior officials and departmental heads attended the session, which focused on performance, challenges, and strategies for improving irrigation infrastructure across the province.
During the meeting, officials briefed the Secretary on the status of construction works, stages of completion, obstacles faced, and future plans. The review also covered the effective utilization of funds and the importance of completing projects within stipulated timelines.
Secretary Sohail Rehman Baloch emphasized that delays in development projects will not be tolerated, directing officers to take practical steps to ensure timely completion. He highlighted the critical role of irrigation projects in strengthening Balochistan’s agricultural economy, improving water management, and providing facilities to the pub
lic, stressing that no compromise on quality will be accepted.
He instructed officials to maintain transparency, adherence to rules, and strict monitoring of projects. Regular field visits were ordered to assess the pace and quality of work, ensuring that government resources are used efficiently.
The meeting also discussed planning for future projects, prioritizing schemes based on ground realities, agricultural needs, and available water resources. The Secretary urged officers to perform their duties with professionalism and ensure an effective reporting system for project monitoring.
Concluding the session, Sohail Rehman Baloch directed that targets must be achieved within deadlines, and a comprehensive progress report should be presented in the next meeting.
