Mirpurkhas: The district administration and residents here on Wednesday observed Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir (Kashmir Exploitation Day) with a flag-hoisting ceremony, a solidarity rally and prayers in support of the people of Illegal Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The district administration organized the main ceremony at the Commissioner’s Office, where senior civil and police officials, elected representatives, government employees, teachers, students, traders and members of the civil society gathered to reaffirm Pakistan’s political, diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiris.
Commissioner, Shahmir Bhutto hoisted the national flag alongside DIG Mirpurkhas Range Capt. (retd.) Faisal Abdullah Chachar, Deputy Commissioner Nawab Sameer Hussain Laghari, SSP Syed Fida Hussain Shah and Mayor Abdul Rauf Ghori.
A police contingent presented a ceremonial salute, while the participants observed a one-minute silence in tribute to the martyred in IIOJK.
A solidarity rally later marched from the Commissioner Complex to Gulstan-e-Baldia, led by the deputy commissioner, mayor and senior police officials.
The government officers, Rescue 1122 personnel, education officials, traders, teachers and students participate in the rally.
The participants carried Pakistani and Kashmiri flags and voiced support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
The speakers also urged the international community to take notice of human rights violations in the occupied valley .
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner, Laghari said the rally was intended to convey Pakistan’s continued support for the Kashmiri people and their cause.
SSP Shah called on the media to highlight the situation in Kashmir, while Mayor Ghori said Pakistan had consistently stood by the Kashmiri people.
The event concluded with prayers for peace, stability and prosperity in Pakistan and for the people of IIOJK.
