Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, visited the Police Lines in Tank on Wednesday, where he laid a floral wreath at the martyrs’ memorial, offered a salute, and prayed for the departed souls.
During the visit, the Chief Minister met with local elders and the families of police martyrs.
He prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and for patience and strength for their bereaved families.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police was bravely fighting on the frontline against terrorism and assured that all issues faced by the police force would be resolved on a priority basis.
He said that death is inevitable, but attaining martyrdom for the great cause of the homeland and nation is the highest honor.
The Chief Minister stated that in the war against terrorism, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Special Branch, police, security forces, and the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had made immense sacrifices.
He added that the people of the province had rendered unparalleled sacrifices for peace in the country, and the entire nation had stood united in every difficult time.
He expressed regret that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been continuously bearing the brunt of terrorism for the past two decades.
He further said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with police and security forces, had collectively sacrificed more than 80,000 lives for peace in the country and the region.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would continue to provide all possible support to the families of police martyrs.
He urged the people not to lose hope, expressing confidence that the time was near when complete peace would be restored in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
