Rawalpindi: Provincial Minister for Communication and Works, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth, has stated that under the vision of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, rapid work is underway on projects aimed at providing modern and convenient travel facilities to the public.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting on Friday. During the meeting, officials from the Highways Department briefed the minister on the Rawalpindi Signal-Free Project. The briefing revealed that the project includes two flyovers and three underpasses, with construction progressing at a fast pace. The initiative also encompasses modern remodeling of Kachehri Chowk, Iftikhar Janjua Chowk, and Annexe Chowk.
The minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure the signal-free project is completed on time. Addressing the meeting, he said that in line with the Chief Minister’s vision, projects to deliver modern and easy travel facilities are being executed swiftly. Traffic issues are being addressed on a priority basis.
He highlighted that the completion of the project would significantly reduce travel distances, benefiting millions of citizens on a daily basis. He added that shorter travel times would boost commercial activities.
“The flyover extending from Rawat Chowk to Rashid Minhas Road will completely transform Rawalpindi’s traffic map”, he said.
He instructed the relevant officials to pay special attention to beautification works along the project route.
Later, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth conducted an on-site inspection of the Rawalpindi Signal-Free Project and expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work. On the occasion, he remarked that the project is a living proof of the Chief Minister’s people-friendly policies.
“Upon completion, the project will relieve Rawalpindi’s citizens from traffic congestion, delays, and mental stress”, he said.
