Lahore: Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique on Saturday chaired a meeting on the Nawaz Sharif Medical District Lahore project at the Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab (IDAP).
CEO IDAP Captain (retd) Shah Mir Iqbal and other concerned officers attended the meeting, during which a detailed review of the project was conducted. IDAP officials briefed the meeting on the latest progress and development work on the project.
Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique said revolutionary and historic health projects worth billions of rupees were being launched across Punjab.
He said the Nawaz Sharif Medical District would include Children’s Hospital-2, the Institute of Genetic and Blood Diseases, the Institute of Surgical, Orthopedic and Medical Rehabilitation, the Centre of Excellence for Nursing Education, a specialized medical hospital, a cardiac hospital, a medical university and a state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory.
The provincial health minister directed IDAP to complete work on various new health projects at the earliest.
He said a network of new government hospitals was being established across the province to facilitate the people, adding that providing the best possible healthcare facilities at people’s doorsteps was the government’s top priority.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said the government wanted to ensure that people did not face difficulties in accessing healthcare services. He added that the Nawaz Sharif Medical District project was being continuously monitored to ensure timely progress.
