Mirpur: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday telephoned newly elected Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi and congratulated him on assuming office, terming his election a ‘good omen’ for the region.
According to a statement issued by the AJK President’s Office, Nawaz Sharif expressed the hope that the new president, prime minister and other members of the AJK government would work as a team for the development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the welfare of its people.
He said he would soon visit Azad Jammu and Kashmir along with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to review the situation and assess progress on the implementation of commitments made to the people of the region.
Dr Najeeb Naqi thanked Nawaz Sharif for his felicitations and expressed gratitude for the gesture. He assured the PML-N president that the AJK government would make every possible effort to advance and fulfil its commitments in accordance with his vision and under his guidance.
The AJK president also expressed his resolve to work for the development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the welfare of its people in coordination with the popularly elected PML-N-led AJK government and relevant institutions.
