Peshawar: Peshawar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Omar Ahmed Bukhari paid an important visit to the Central Police Office (CPO) here, where he was received by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed.
Additional IGPs, DIGs, and other senior police officials were also present. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour on the arrival of the Corps Commander Peshawar, said a KP Police press release.
During the visit, the Corps Commander laid a floral wreath at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial and offered prayers for the departed souls of police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
A high-level meeting was held during which IGP Zulfiqar Hameed briefed the Corps Commander on the overall law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ongoing counterterrorism operations, intelligence-based operations (IBOs), security arrangements for sensitive installations and public places, the police’s modern command and control system, the use of drone and anti-drone technology, and the force’s operational preparedness to effectively respond to emerging security challenges.
The briefing highlighted that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police is strictly implementing a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, extremism, and all forms of crime.
Officials stated that intelligence-based operations are being further intensified to thwart potential terrorist attacks before they occur, while advanced technology is being employed to track and neutralise terrorists in order to uphold the writ of the state at all costs.
The IGP also informed the meeting that five districts in the province are being developed as model examples of modern, smart, and citizen-centric policing.
The initiative includes smart surveillance, digital monitoring, advanced investigative systems, transparent service delivery, and enhanced intelligence-led policing. Following its successful implementation, the model will be expanded across the province in phases.
The briefing also covered ongoing police welfare initiatives, including measures to enhance the professional capacity of officers and personnel through modern training, improved protective equipment, better residential and medical facilities, support for the families of martyrs, welfare programmes, and initiatives aimed at boosting the morale of the force.
Lieutenant General Omar Ahmed Bukhari commended the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police for its bravery, unmatched sacrifices, professionalism, steadfast commitment in the fight against terrorism, dedication to protecting the lives and property of citizens, and the welfare measures undertaken for police personnel.
He expressed full confidence in the force’s capabilities and performance.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Corps Commander met with police personnel and reaffirmed the joint resolve to eradicate the menace of terrorism.
He said that the Pakistan Army and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police would continue their operations with full force through close coordination, an integrated strategy, and the use of modern resources until terrorism, extremism, and all anti-state elements are completely eliminated.
He also reiterated their commitment to ensuring the protection of the lives and property of the public at all costs.
The visit concluded with the exchange of commemorative shields between the Corps Commander and the Inspector General of Police.
