Lahore: Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) Commissioner Zulfiqar Ali Kharal has directed field directorates to intensify recovery operations, ensure timely collection of social security contributions and Workers Welfare Fund dues, and achieve the targets set for the new financial year.
He issued these directions while chairing a meeting to review the performance of field directorates, their operational activities and recovery targets, here on Tuesday. Field directors from across Punjab participated online and briefed the meeting on their respective performance. DG Headquarters, Director Inspection, Director CandB and other senior officers were also present.
The meeting reviewed the overall recovery position of social security contributions and Workers Welfare Fund dues, along with directorate-wise recovery targets and the strategy for improving collections during the new financial year.
The commissioner directed officials to ensure timely monthly recovery of all outstanding dues from industrial and commercial establishments. He ordered that recovery proceedings against units delaying payment of their dues be accelerated and made more effective.
The commissioner called for stronger field monitoring and directed officers to take concrete, target-oriented measures to improve recovery performance. He emphasised that continuous monitoring and timely corrective action were essential for achieving the prescribed targets.
He also directed that the registration of unregistered workers under the social security scheme be expedited on a priority basis. He stressed the need for an effective strategy to bring the maximum number of workers into the social security network so they could benefit from the facilities and protections available under the scheme.
He further directed all directorates to work with greater responsibility and coordination, saying that teamwork, effective field operations and continuous performance monitoring were crucial to achieving
the new financial year’s targets.
