Muzaffargarh: Police have declared the death of a man, initially believed to be a suicide, as a murder after a post-mortem examination revealed evidence of torture and strangulation.
According to police sources, the body of Abdul Rashid was found hanging inside his house in the Lal Pur area on June 26. At the time, the deceased’s family termed the incident a suicide and declined to pursue legal proceedings.
However, the post-mortem report later confirmed that Abdul Rashid had been subjected to physical torture and died after being strangled, ruling out suicide.
Following the medical findings, police registered a murder case against unidentified suspects at the Sadar Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s brother.
Police said two relatives from the victim’s in-laws’ family had been taken into custody for questioning, while further investigation into the case was underway.
