Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Wednesday presented a joint condemnation resolution in the Balochistan Provincial Assembly against the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, which was unanimously approved by the House on the occasion of Kashmir Exploitation Day (Youm-e-Istehsal).
The resolution was jointly presented by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, Provincial Ministers Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Mir Shoaib Noshirwani, Faisal Khan Jamali and Parliamentary Secretary Barkat Ali Rind.
The resolution strongly condemned India’s unilateral abrogation of Articles 370 and 35(A) of the Indian Constitution on August 5, 2019, calling it unconstitutional, illegal and a clear violation of United Nations resolutions.
The resolution said that Article 370 provided special constitutional status, its own constitution, its own flag and internal autonomy to occupied Jammu and Kashmir, while Article 35(A) gave special rights to government employment, property and residence to permanent residents of the state.
By abolishing these provisions, India has attempted to strip the identity, constitutional status and fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people.
The House expressed grave concern that these measures were an attempt to change the population ratio by unilaterally changing the disputed status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, while international laws were being violated by granting non-Kashmiris access to land and government jobs.
The resolution also strongly condemned state terrorism, sieges, extrajudicial arrests, serious human rights violations and restrictions on the media in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
It said that these measures were a failed attempt to suppress the right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination and their legitimate aspirations.
The Balochistan Assembly expressed its full solidarity with the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated its resolve that Pakistan would continue to provide political, diplomatic, moral and legal support to the Kashmiri people and would never leave them alone.
The resolution declared August 5 every year as “Kashmir Exploitation Day”. While endorsing the celebration, it was also expressed that the international community would be made aware of Indian atrocities on this day through various events across the country and the struggle of the Kashmiri people would be highlighted in a comprehensive manner.
The House demanded that the provincial government approached the federal government so that the Kashmir issue to be raised more vigorously through effective and active diplomacy at the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other international forums, while a comprehensive national strategy to be formulated to provide legal and diplomatic support to the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
At the end of the resolution, great tribute was paid to the great sacrifices, steadfastness and freedom struggle of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and prayers were prayed to Allah Almighty that Kashmiri people could get rid from oppression and bless them with the blessings of freedom, peace and justice.
