Lahore: Punjab Emergency Services Department (ESD) (Rescue 1122) has been placed on high alert across Punjab to provide medical cover and emergency services during Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrations.
According to Rescue Punjab spokesperson, more than 12,000 rescuers would be deployed across the province to provide medical cover during Milad gatherings, rallies and processions besides carrying out routine rescue operations.
ESD Secretary Dr Rizwan Naseer said 896 ambulances, 2,300 rescue motorcycles and 316 fire and rescue emergency vehicles would be deployed at important locations across Punjab.
In Lahore, more than 1,300 rescuers would perform duties during Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). The arrangements included deployment of 55 emergency ambulances, 300 rescue motorcycles and 44 fire, rescue and specialized emergency vehicles across the provincial capital.
Dr Rizwan said additional rescue posts would also be established at important locations across Punjab to ensure prompt emergency response.
He said rescuers equipped with medical kits would remain present near Milad gatherings, rallies and processions to provide immediate assistance in case of any emergency.
Provincial Emergency Operations Centre in Lahore would monitor all rescue operations, while district emergency officers would command rescue operations in their respective districts, he added.
The secretary said routine rescue operations would continue alongside the special medical cover arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), emphasising that provision of prompt rescue services to the public remained the top priority.
He urged citizens to immediately dial Rescue Helpline 1122 in case of any emergency.
