Lahore: Punjab Minister for Communication and Works (CandW) Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth on Tuesday directed officials to expedite work on the Multan-Vehari and Lodhran-Kahror Pakka road projects, stressing that no compromise would be made on construction quality and that the schemes should be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Chairing a review meeting here, the minister was briefed on the progress of the ongoing projects, pending land acquisition, construction of drains and other development activities.
Officials informed the meeting that Rs920 million was required for land acquisition and completion of the remaining construction work to ensure timely completion of the projects.
The meeting was told that construction work on Part-B of the Lodhran-Kahror Pakka, Mailsi-Vehari Road Phase-II project was progressing at a fast pace. Around 3. 34 kilometres of carpeting, sub-base, base course, aggregate base course (ABC) and asphaltic wearing course had been completed, while all 14 culverts had been constructed. Work on the median and drainage system was currently underway.
The minister was further informed that under Part-C of Phase-II, seven kilometres of carpeting, sub-base, base course and ABC had been completed, while four kilometres of the asphaltic wearing course had also been laid and the remaining work was progressing rapidly.
He directed the authorities to maintain the highest construction standards and ensure the early completion of the remaining asphaltic wearing course, road shoulders and road furniture to facilitate safe and efficient travel for the public.
